Founded in 2016 in Martensville, Bravo Dance Co. (BDC) is a premier dance studio for children and adults to learn, grow and excel at dance. Dance students are taught by top-notch instructors with experience in all genres of dance — from ballet to tap to hip hop.
“At Bravo Dance Co. our atmosphere is supportive, pressure-free and purposeful. Our dance students are learning and setting concrete dance goals, but we are also teaching life skills and qualities such as teamwork, self-confidence, self-awareness and work ethic,” says BDC’s founder and artistic director Meagan Barabash, a firm believer in inspiring and giving back.
Three years ago, Meagan saw a need to bridge the gap for the bedroom communities north of Saskatoon like Warman and Martensville. She noticed that other dance studios were not meeting the growing needs of the community and she saw the market potential for something different. BDC’s students range in age from 18 months to their early 60s and are enrolled in both recreational and competitive classes.
“We grew very quickly from year one to year two, enrolling four times the number of students that we originally set as our goal. We now have a nearly 5,000 square foot space with two state-of-the-art dance studios and a growing senior dance staff.”
Meagan is originally from Preeceville and has danced in different genres throughout her life, although she admits she is “a bit too ballet for hip hop.” She also has a B. Comm. from the University of Saskatchewan. Meagan’s husband, Cole Chorney, is a professional dancer and teaches Ukrainian dance classes at BDC, which are growing in popularity.
Meagan is very proud that the dance studio has won multiple awards, both in both business and dance. These include the 2018 WESK - Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan’s Emerging Entrepreneur Award, a 2017 Fiat Lux Business Excellence Award, Saskatchewan’s 2017 Top Entrepreneur, and multiple choreography awards. BDC was also a 2018 SABEX Award finalist (Entrepreneur of the Year) and a 2018 New Business finalist at the Warman, Martensville & Region Business Excellence Awards.
This December, 84 members of the BDC family will be travelling to Walt Disney World in Florida to participate in workshops and to perform in Downtown Disney. Talk about an exciting experience!
Meagan concludes: “At BDC, our mission is to not only produce great dancers but to produce great people.”

“When choosing a dance studio for my daughter, I knew very quickly that we had made the right choice with Bravo Dance Co. It was absolutely worth the five minute drive to see the enjoyment on my daughter’s face! Everything from the fun group activities to the personal one-on-one care and leadership that she receives from the studio, we as parents know she is supported at Bravo and more importantly, she knows she is supported and her coaches believe in her!” —Jess Tetu
