Empowered Health through Collaboration

Lead Pilates, Cycle & Fitness and Lead Integrated Health Therapies — or Lead as it is affectionately known — is Saskatchewan’s first integrated health therapies and fitness centre. The 9,000 sq. ft. facility is a warm and welcoming environment that brings a holistic approach to assisting clients to lead their best life.

Lead is the brainchild of CEO and founder Jana Danielson. She didn’t start out with the goal of working in the fitness industry. Jana holds a B.Comm and MBA from the University of Saskatchewan and was working in management when she discovered Pilates. Her early introduction to Pilates sparked a passion that has become her life’s work.

Lead comes from humble beginnings with Jana first offering classes in her 900 sq. ft. basement studio that doubled as a playroom. As demand grew, the studio moved to a second location and now finally to its current home in 2015.

It is easy to see why people flock to Jana and why the classes she teaches are always full. She and her team of health professionals exude a warmth and genuine concern for all their Lead clients and patients. Once you get her started talking about health and fitness, she lights up and regales you with tidbits on the latest research, tips and tricks for leading your best life.

The centre has an impressive team including multiple massage therapists offering a variety of massage techniques, a physiotherapist, a chiropractor, a naturopathic doctor, a reflexology/BodyTalk practitioner, and most recently, a social worker. The fitness side offers a wide range of classes including Pilates (mat and group equipment), CoreAlign, cycling, strength training, Essentrics, and Block Therapy.

In addition, Lead offers specialized classes for pre/post-natal moms, cancer survivors, MS patients, arthritis, osteoporosis, and even a Pilates for golf class. “I think when you hear the word Pilates, you think of a certain person, but that stereotype is shattered on Wednesday nights when the clients gather for their Pilates for golf class,” says Jana with a smile.

The Lead team works together to provide the right combination of fitness activities and health therapies to address clients’ unique goals and challenges. Each client is empowered to take charge of their health by providing them with information and support to achieve their goals.

“Our clients range in age from children to seniors and they each come with very different goals and challenges. It is our mission to look at each person holistically and figure out how we can help them achieve their health goals,” Jana adds. “It is very rewarding to see someone’s sparkle return as they overcome aches, pains and other health issues through a combination of classes and therapies.”

Lead recently announced two new offers for first time and current clients, including a one-month intro offer of $99 for unlimited mat, CoreAlign and Flex classes and three group equipment classes, as well as a three pack of private sessions for $149. Lead offers a thorough consultation and introduction process to new clients to ensure clients are fit into their right classes.

“We are really excited about the future of Lead,” says Jana. “And the summer is a great time to check out different classes or to get started with your proactive health plan and see what amazing results integrated health therapies and movement can offer.”
