The Barn at Wind’s Edge: Your Happy Day Awaits
In spring 2019, a stunning new wedding and event venue will hit the Saskatoon scene. The Barn at Wind’s Edge is the perfect pairing of prairie charm and modern elegance, located on eight tranquil acres southeast of the city.
This beautiful luxury venue is available for weddings, conventions, corporate events, concerts, special occasions and meetings — and it’s just minutes from Saskatoon on a paved road. Operating year-round and overlooking a stunning prairie landscape, the Barn at Wind’s Edge is an ideal place for a wedding ceremony, reception and photos.
Serial entrepreneur and co-owner, Rebecca Simpson, has a penchant for customer service and event planning, and describes herself as a stickler for detail. Her business partner, Joanne Tataryn, works as an epidemiologist, loves gardening and local cuisine, and shares Rebecca’s entrepreneurial spirit. The two have been friends since their two sons were in kindergarten together almost a decade ago.
“I’m a city girl with a heart for the Prairies, and I think the Barn at Wind’s Edge reflects that combination. The venue has the feel of a French country vineyard, but there is also something that’s distinctly Saskatchewan about it,” says Rebecca. With 3,300 square feet, the Wind's Edge Ballroom is a highly functional space that can accommodate 225 guests for dinner and entertainment. The ballroom highlights vaulted ceilings, exposed timbers and barn board-style floors, all under the glow of sparkling chandeliers.
For warm and sunny days, the Ceremony Green provides guests with a natural, open-air space featuring a manicured lawn and a picturesque archway. Although it’s outdoors, the Ceremony Green is equipped with power for audio and music. Another option for a wedding ceremony is the Breeze Ceremony Hall with its vaulted ceilings, antique bronze pendant lights and whitewashed shiplap. This year-round space can accommodate up to 225 guests for a wedding ceremony or concert.
“We are offering our guests a complete VIP experience, whether it’s for a wedding, a holiday party or an off-site business retreat. To make your happy day memorable and relaxed, our venue provides everything. This includes linens, tables, seating, catering and bar services. Rebecca and I have considered every detail; there is nothing quite like it in Saskatoon,” says Joanne.
Also unique to the Barn at Wind’s Edge are dedicated bride’s and groom’s rooms. With a club room atmosphere, the Groom’s Lounge has a big screen television, wet bar and a foosball table. The spacious Bridal Loft is beautifully decorated with multiple mirrors, soft seating, a dining table, full makeup and hair stations, as well as a private washroom.
Rebecca describes the food at the Barn at Wind’s Edge as “Prairie delicious with an emphasis on local ingredients.” For example — The Wind’s Edge honey and herb-baked chicken with grainy local mustard glaze, cheesy mashed potato with roasted red pepper. Main courses have enough substance that your guests won’t leave hungry, again with a local emphasis. The lemon cheesecake with Saskatoon Berry coulis and fresh mint sounds delicious. Plus, fun late night buffet options are inventive and can include a taco bar, a perogy bar or a poutine bar.
In fact, the only wedding-related items a bride and groom will need to consider is a wedding planner, florals, music and a cake (the venue also has the option of house-made desserts).
“By opening the Barn at Wind’s Edge, we’re celebrating and sharing the very best of the Prairies!”
