For 40 years, the Rybchuk Family has been providing the city with remarkable meals for special events, big and small. Owners Mike & Carla Rybchuk took over the family business 18 years ago, working out of St. Mary’s Hall until last year.
“You could say catering is in our blood,” says Rybchuk, who used to follow his father to work as a child. “We spent many years at St. Mary’s Hall, and branched into our own space on Park Street earlier this year.” Their new space means they can manage catering events in Regina and the surrounding area, something they love to do. “Our move has allowed us to expand our business into corporate lunches and meetings, and backyard events too,” says Rybchuk.
No matter what event you’re hosting, the Rybchuk reputation and quality remains as it has always been — fantastic. Known for their traditional meals, such as full turkey or roast beef dinner complete with perogies, cabbage rolls and more, Rybchuk’s also offers delicious delights such as pulled pork, roast beef sandwiches, Greek chicken and make-your-own sandwich platters. Whatever your needs are, they can make it happen. “We offer all kinds of packages, including Christmas dinners, sandwich and wrap trays, and even entertaining trays for pick up,” says Rybchuk.
Rybchuk’s Catering is such an institution in the city that they are now catering second generation family weddings. “On more than one occasion, we’ve been told by customers that we catered their wedding over 35 years ago and now we are catering to their children’s wedding,” says Rybchuk. “It’s such an honour for us to be the ‘family caterer.’ ”
Family events are just something the company does. They also live in their business. Family has always been the core of Rybchuk’s catering, with eight siblings and extended family lending helping a hand. “We have had everyone from friends of family members to now our own children and numerous nieces and nephews working for us,” says Rybchuk.
Size isn’t an issue either. Rybchuk’s can cater a working lunch at your office, a birthday or special event in your backyard, or a major event such as a formal banquet. They’re experts in multitasking, and can handle any event size. “I love the social aspect of the job, meeting different people and getting to know them through the catering process,” says Rybchuk. “We have groups we have worked with for more than a decade and we’re still catering to them this day. It’s great to build these long, happy relationships with our customers.”
